Virepedia uses artificial intelligence tools to assist in content production, always under human editorial oversight. This policy explains how and when AI is used.

How AI May Assist

AI tools may be used to assist with research organisation, drafting, editing, formatting, summarisation, and language refinement. These tools help our team work more efficiently and focus on editorial judgement and accuracy.

Human Editorial Review Required

No content is published on Virepedia without human editorial review. All AI-assisted drafts are reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a qualified editor before publication. The final responsibility for content accuracy and tone lies with the editorial team.

AI Does Not Replace Editorial Judgement

AI is a tool, not a replacement for human judgement. Our editors make all decisions about story selection, sourcing, sensitivity, balance, and compliance with our policies. AI-generated suggestions are evaluated critically.

Sensitive Claims

For any claims that are sensitive, potentially defamatory, or require strong sourcing (such as death, legal, medical, or financial assertions), AI-generated content is not used without direct human verification using reliable sources. AI is not relied upon for final determinations on such matters.

Verification of AI-Generated Claims

Any factual claim that is produced or suggested by AI must be verified against authoritative sources before it can appear in an article. We do not publish AI-generated output as fact without verification.

Reader Corrections

If you believe that an article contains an error introduced or not caught by AI, please let us know at corrections@virepedia.org. We will review and correct as needed.

Tools & Models

Virepedia currently uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Anthropic’s Claude for drafting and research assistance. No proprietary or user data is used to train these models. For more on data handling, see our Privacy Policy.

Identifying AI-Assisted Content

Articles that have been significantly assisted by AI are marked with a small note at the bottom: “This article was produced with AI assistance, reviewed by an editor.” Readers can always verify claims using the sources cited in each article. Review & Update Cadence

This policy is reviewed every six months by the editorial team to reflect changes in AI technology and best practices. The most recent review was on 10 June 2026.
